Ösztöndíj Program 2017

Az évszázad utolsó évtizedének kétségkívül egyik legfontosabb eseménye az azóta is működő ösztöndíjadás létrehozása 1993. augusztus 26-án, melyel a Klub a magyar közösségi életben kiemelkedő szerepet vállaló, az iskolában pedig jó eredményeket elérő diákokat támogatja. A program Krémer Sándor, Bicók Pál és Körmöczy Frigyes kezdeményezésére, Saláta Pál anyagi támogatásának köszönhetően indult útjára, az azóta eltelt 23 év alatt több mint 110 000 dollárral járult hozzá több mint 50 magyar egyetemista és főiskolás tanulmányához.

A Chicagói Magyar Klub 2017 évi ösztöndíjprogramjára pályázók a következő témáról kell dolgozatot írjanak:

A 2016 évi magyarországi kvótareferendum előzményei, politikai háttere és lehetséges következményei.

A pályázással kapcsolatos minden további tájékoztatás megtalálható a Pályázati Követelmények alatt.

2016 ITT-OTT Conference

The Hungarian Communion of Friends cordially invites all to the ITT-OTT Conference being held August 13-20, 2016 in its traditional home, Lake Hope State Park in Ohio. For over thirty years, the conference has been presenting high level lectures and discourse while also providing an opportunitiy for families to vacation together. The joyful sound of children is a vital element of our gathering. At Lake Hope we all get rejuvenated and get recharged with enough Hungarian spirit to last throughout the year.

Annual Summer Picnic

Join us for a summer afternoon filled with food, good company & fun for all ages!

Enjoy Hungarian specialties such as pork chops and lángos (fried flat-bread), alongside picnic traditions like corn-on-the-cob and hot-dogs starting at 12 Noon.

A Hungarian Patisserie tent will be on site offering home-made pastries plus lemonade and coffee.

There will be a magic show for children at 1:30 p.m.

Hungarian Club of Chicago 89th Anniversary Gala Ball

154_imgWith over 450 guests in attendance, the Hungarian Club of Chicago held thei rbeautiful, black-tie formal Gala Ball, for the 89th consecutive year on Saturday, January 29.

This gala ball honors and showcases the Hungarian community’s achievements as well as celebrates the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. It is through the tireless and selfless efforts of the Hungarian Club thatthis ball became the success that it is today.The Club has been privileged to havestrong and capable leaders as well as acaring community to support and establish a thriving Hungarian community in Chicago.

Hungarian Club President Sándor Krémer continues to carry on the traditions of the past and with the help of an energetic board, this year’s gala event had a numberof outstanding entertainment for theirguests.

The evening started off with addresses from Sándor Krémer, President of theHungarian Club, Kaarina Koskenalusta, Honorary Consul of Hungary and theHonorable Károly Dán, Consul General of Hungary.

The 2011 Hungarian Club scholarship award was presented to 10 students whoexcel in their university studies and the topthree recipients were active members in the Hungarian community. Congratulations to all the deserving winners: Csilla Megyeri, Zsófia Vályi-Nagy, Stefi Szilágyi, VeronikaVajda, Viktor Vajda, Hajnalka Németh,Tamás Demeter, Andrew Végh, Alex Véghand Nathaniel Répay.

From cocktails to a wonderful dinner, the opening performance was the Rábai Folk Dance Ensemble, whichreunited fortheir 35 year anniversary and demonstrated their passion for dance with performances of the Terenyei Aprósergő and Szatmárököritói Fergeteges dances.

Next was the presentation of the debutantes, where young ladies are introduced to the Hungarian society and the community at large. The debutants dressed in white iridescent gowns, escorted by their charming companions, performed an elegant court dance and debutant waltz.

Congratulations to this year debutants: Andrea Vella and Brian Mullen; Fanni Lakatos and Zoltán Noé; Natalie Saláta and Brian Burke; Jennifer Saláta and Tony Zsigmond; Erika and Erik Varga; Jennifer Végh and Tom Nelson; Kimberley Végh and Richard Ignácz.

Live music completed the evening with lots of dancing and singing which included a midnight waltz competition! This was the first annual dance contest and the winners were Toka Noémi, Áron Trufán, Ferencand Erzsebet Szocs. Next year’s midnight dance contest will be a tango!

The Gala Ball is a fantastic social and networking highlight in the start of the New Year. In true Hollywood style, the night was complete with red carpet walkways and glamorous show-style atmosphere makingthis Gala Ball the most upscale and styling event taking place every year.

Next year will be a truly monumental experience because the Hungarian Club of Chicago will be celebrating their 90th anniversary.

Don’t forget to wear your best ball attire, puton your dancing shoes and learn that tango!
